Local Rules
Out of bounds
Course boundary fences, black-topped white stakes, defined clubhouse and car-park edges, and all public roads are out of bounds. A ball crossing a public road remains out of bounds even if it reaches another part of the course.
Marked ground under repair
Areas outlined with white paint or roped off with stakes and rope are abnormal course conditions.
Hole 8 garden dropping zones
When either garden beyond or right of the eighth green interferes, the nearest marked dropping zone is available.
Wheel ruts, bare patches and embedded stones
Clearly defined vehicle ruts outside penalty areas, fairway bare patches other than divots, and qualifying embedded stones are treated as ground under repair.
Supporting walls and hole 9 machinery track
Relief is available from stone, brick or block supporting walls and from the defined greenskeeper's machinery track along the left side of hole 9.
Protected trees and gardens
Staked trees and their guards, plus cultivated or ornamental garden beds marked by blue stakes or borders, are no-play zones.
Exposed tree-root relief
Exposed roots on fairway-height ground or in rough within two club-lengths of a fairway edge are treated as ground under repair when they interfere with the ball or swing.
Practice putting green
The practice putting green and its closely mown surround are a wrong green.
Course Intelligence
Course Character
The official description points to a course where keeping the ball in the right corridor is more important than simply maximising distance. The 18-hole, par-66 layout uses tight tree-lined fairways and challenging greens at the foot of the Blue Mountains. Leonay is a compact Blue Mountains test where accuracy matters.
Major Risks
Tree-lined corridors A wayward tee shot can quickly remove the next shot, so the narrow fairway lines deserve respect. Demanding greens The official course description flags the greens as a test, making approach control and speed important.
