A ball is out of bounds beyond the course boundary fences, including the bowls-club and car-park boundaries.
Young trees and garden beds
Planted trees under two club-lengths high and garden beds are protected areas where free relief is mandatory.
Protective fences
Protective fences identified by the local rules are immovable obstructions.
Sprinkler head on line of play
Extra relief is available when a sprinkler head is on the line of play, within two club-lengths of the putting green and within two club-lengths of the ball.
Exposed tree roots near fairways
Free relief is available from exposed tree roots in the general area when the ball is in a fairway-height area or the roots are close to that area and interfere with the stroke.
Alternative to stroke and distance
For a lost ball or ball out of bounds, the club permits the Model Local Rule E-5 fairway-drop alternative except in elite events or after a provisional ball has been played.
Maximum score is double par
The maximum score recorded on a hole is double the hole's par.
