Course and hole 12 out of bounds
Boundary fences and black-topped white stakes or painted lines define OOB; on hole 12, a ball beyond the marked northern kerb is OOB even if it lies elsewhere on the course.
General-area no-play zones
No-play zones outside penalty areas are ground under repair and require mandatory free relief.
Specified ground under repair
Marked areas, qualifying roots, deep wheel ruts, bunker erosion and staked bunkers are GUR with free relief under Rule 16.1.
Rock walls are no-play zones
All rock walls are no-play zones; a ball on a wall or affected by a wall inside a penalty area must take mandatory penalty relief.
Hole 16 rock-wall drop zone
A ball on rocks or a rock wall in front of or beside the 16th tee must take penalty relief and may use the nearest designated drop zone.
Holes 5 and 11 penalty drop zones
A ball in the marked rear penalty area on holes 5 or 11 may use the nearest designated drop zone for one penalty stroke.
Hole 5 free-relief drop zone
For interference from the marked free-relief path area behind hole 5, relief is free but must use the nearest designated drop zone.
