Immovable obstructions
In-bounds safety screens, gravel paths, wire cages, distance markers, penalty posts when the ball is outside the penalty area, and rock surrounds or valve inlets on the 7th and 8th dam walls receive free nearest-point relief.
Ground under repair
Mower, tractor and vehicle wheel marks, embedded stones, cracks, bird scratching, burrowing-animal damage and all new works in the general area are GUR with free nearest-point relief.
Sprinkler-head line-of-play relief
When a ball lies within two club-lengths of the green and a fixed sprinkler head interferes with the line of play, free nearest-point relief is available.
Green aeration and scarifying marks
A ball in a verti-drain hole or scarifying mark on a putting green is placed at the nearest point, no nearer the hole, without penalty.
Out of bounds
All fences including the driving-range fence, white posts with black tops, and the 7th fairway while playing hole 11 define out of bounds. Stroke-and-distance applies.
Protected young trees
When a sapling under two club-lengths high interferes with stance or swing, free relief must be taken at the nearest point, no nearer the hole.
Woodchips are integral
Woodchips and bark chips are integral parts of the course. The ball must be played as it lies and no free relief is available.

Plot the corners first; this is a course where the right side of a dogleg matters. Its flat walk, river-side common-land setting and welcoming feel make it approachable, but the routing still asks for shape and discipline. Barwon Valley is a public Belmont course that rewards tidy positioning more than raw force.

Regulations
Dress code
Neat casual clothing and golf or athletic shoes are required. Competition play additionally prohibits singlets, high-visibility workwear and ripped clothing; thongs and work boots are not allowed.
Slow-play policy
Remain immediately behind the group in front, play Ready Golf when safe, and call the following group through if a lost place cannot be recovered within one or two holes. A two-stroke penalty may apply.
Golf-cart use
Use paths where provided, give way to walkers and obey signage. Do not drive or park within five metres of greens, tees, bunkers or hazards, within 20 metres in front of a green, through rough, GUR, mud or protected planting, or while impaired.
